How can assemble dome array on PCB firmly?

Some customers have came across the problems that they can’t assemble the dome array on PCB firmly. I think maybe there are the
below issues for this matter:
First, there are some dust and stains on the PCB, so the PCB must be clear;
Second, please use the the forceps or other toolings to peel off the protective film of dome array, please don’t use the hand;
Last but not least, please press a little after you stick it on the PCB.

Upon the three setps, I think you can assemble the dome array firmly on your PCB.

What kind of metal dome is suitable to be made into dome array?

Metal dome array is a kind of pressure-sensitive adhesive film that carries metal dome. But what kind of metal dome is suitable to be made into dome array?

Circle metal domes are the most commonly used in dome arrays, such as keypads of our cell phones, it’s the round metal dome. The four legs metal dome commonly used in membrane switches, it’s with large quantity. Triangle series are  most used with the legs, so they aren’t made into dome array. Of course, we also have customers to make into our standard one key metal dome array for switches. Now, from digital, high-tech products extended to all lines, dome array mostly used.

The structure of dome array

Normally, we are now using the most popular double layers structure for the dome array. You can see the picture for this structure as below:

There is a Mylar with adhesive on the top, and then a Spacer with adhesive take the metal dome. For this structure, there are ventilation holes between
metal domes, when you press the domes, the air can ran out from the ventilation holes, so the clike feeling will be very better.
EMI item is that a EMI with adhesive on the Mylar, Double adhesive is that there is two sided adhesive with Mylar, LGF item is that there Ligh guide
film on the top.

The difference of Laser Cutting and Mold to make the dome array

Now, we have two ways to make the dome array: Laser Cutting and set up the mold. Do you know the difference of them? Ok, follow me.

1. the caused Fee                    With tooling Fee                  HIgh tooling fee
2. Tolerance                              +/-0.15mm                         +/-0.10mm
3. Production Capacity               50K/day                          200k/day

If your order quantity is too large and demands very strictly, we recommend to set up the tooling. And if your total fund reach to a certain amount, we will return back to you.  If not, Laser cutting to make the dome array is your best choice for production, I think. It’s very convenient.
