The tolerance of the metal dome array

There is a tolerance for the metal dome array. If you order quantity is small, we suggest you to make it using the laser cutting machine. It doesn’t need to set up the tooling, so you can save the tooling fee to make the dome array. The tolerance for it is +/-0.15mm. Can you acccept this?
If not, I think you should be set up the tooling. The tolerance is +/-0.10mm. Normally, the tooling fee is from USD500 to USD1000 according to the size of your product.

The overall thickness of our metal dome array

We have got some questions about the whole overall of metal dome array recently. It’s because that they have the requirements about the travel of their products, and if there is enough spacer for the metal dome array, such as the membrane switches. So they need to know the overall thickness of the metal dome array. Please see the below information for this issue:

Now, the structure of metal dome array is double layers, Mylar and Spacer. So the overall thickness is equal to the thickness of the Mylar + Metal dome. There, we should ingore the thickness of spacer as it paralle to the metal dome, and the thickness is more thicker than spacer. Let’s look an example: 12.2mm, 280g, without dimple. The thickness of mylar is 0.05mm, the metal dome is 0.08mm(material)+ 0.67mm(travel)=0.75mm, so the overall is 0.05+0.75=0.80mm. Now, do you know the height if is it okay for your product now?

How can we make the dome array

How can we make the dome array as customer’s required? Please follow me to see the details.

The dome array is most for custom design, so we just need the drawing of your product or printed circuit
boards. The information I need to know is the location of the metal domes & the size of outline,
alighment holes, etc.

This is enough for us to make the samples for you evaluate. Upon your confirmation, hehe, I think
it’s time to start the mass production. Do you think it’s too easy?

The specifications of dome array

This time please follow me to know the specifications of metal dome array:

1. Mylar: Transparent, the thickness is 0.05mm on the top layer
2. Spacer: White or Transparent are available. The thickness is 0.075mm, 0.010mm, and 0.0125mm.
3. Adhesive: Thickness is from 0.02 to 0.05mm.
4. Peel-off-paper: It support the metal dome array. You can peel off the metal dome array from the paper, and then stick it onto the PCB. It’s transparent and the thickness is normal 0.07mm.
5. Outline: the size we can make at most 88*78mm. We can make as your  PCB drawing.
